Fragrant and elegant tea is almost indispensable to every Chinese person. However, many people follow trends when drinking tea, simply consuming whatever is currently popular. Why not find a tea that truly suits you?
Generally speaking, fine, high-quality teas are more nutritious than coarse, older teas, and green tea has higher nutritional value than black tea. Premium green tea contains over twice the amount of vitamins C, B1, and B2 compared to black tea and oolong tea, along with higher levels of minerals like phosphorus and potassium, especially zinc, which is typically more than double that in black tea. The beneficial components in green tea, particularly tea polyphenols, are also more than double those in black tea and oolong tea. Nevertheless, the choice of tea should be based on individual circumstances.
For frequent mental work, drink green tea. According to reports, green tea helps prevent cancer, lowers blood lipids, and prevents atherosclerosis. It is suitable for workers frequently exposed to toxic substances or in heavily polluted environments, as its active components offer protective effects; for smokers and drinkers, it helps detoxify tobacco and sober up; for young people in their developmental prime; for mental workers, it enhances mental agility, keeping the mind clear and energetic, improving thinking, judgment, and memory; for those with a yin-deficient constitution; and for those seeking weight loss and beauty. Pregnant women should drink lighter green tea.
For frequent physical activity, drink black tea. Black tea is warm in nature, suitable for those with weak constitutions, as well as athletes and manual laborers. Adding some sugar while drinking helps increase energy and supplement nutrition. It is also advisable for pregnant women in the last 1–2 months before delivery and postpartum.
For weight loss, drink green tea (oolong tea). Oolong tea helps lower blood lipids, prevent atherosclerosis, and promote longevity. It is suitable for overweight individuals seeking weight loss and beauty, as well as athletes; for those who primarily consume meat, aiding digestion; and for those with a yang-deficient constitution or weak spleen and stomach.
For frequent consumption of beef and lamb, drink dark tea. Dark tea is suitable for those who regularly eat meat, especially beef and lamb, as it aids fat digestion; it is also suitable for those trying to lose weight. Some ethnic minorities and border regions in China often consume post-fermented compressed teas like brick tea, cake tea, and Pu-erh tea, which aligns with their dietary habits.
For low moods, drink floral tea. Floral tea is suitable for those overworked mentally, helping relieve depression and boost spirits; for those with a yang-deficient constitution or weak spleen and stomach; and for women during menstruation and menopause, alleviating irritability, soothing the liver, relieving depression, and regulating qi and menstruation.
