Never use your hands to pick up tea leaves directly! When entertaining guests at home, brewing a cup of fragrant tea is both refreshing and elegant. However, reaching into the tea with your hands not only disrupts the inherent elegance of the tea leaves but may also ruin them and cause them to spoil more quickly.
Tea leaves are most susceptible to moisture or the intrusion of foreign odors. Our hands come into contact with many places every day, inevitably carrying bacteria and microorganisms, and they tend to sweat or pick up moisture. If you use your hands to grab tea leaves, it changes the dry environment of the tea and may contaminate it with bacteria or microorganisms. The moist environment then provides a breeding ground for them. Under such conditions, the delicate fragrance of the tea will gradually fade, and the tea may deteriorate more rapidly.
In the art of tea ceremony, special tea spoons are used to take tea leaves. Spoons made of stainless steel, wood, or bamboo are all suitable. However, after use, the tea spoon must be stored in a dry environment, such as a cupboard for utensils. If possible, it is best to place the tea spoon in a sterilizing cabinet. Alternatively, you can pour the tea leaves directly into the cup, adjusting the amount according to personal preference. It is important to note that once too many tea leaves have been poured out, you must not return them to the tea bag or tea container, as these leaves may have come into contact with moisture or other impurities from the cup, which will accelerate the spoilage of the tea.
