I've heard people say that green tea has a rich variety, like West Lake Longjing, Dongting Biluochun, and Zhuyeqing, too many to count. At this point, Oolong tea just smiles without saying a word—trying to compare variety? You're still too green. Not to mention anything else, just talking about the Wuyi Mountains, the phrase 'every rock has tea, each tea has its name' has given rise to over a thousand types of tea, scary, right? But, do you know how to refer to all these teas?

Southern Fujian Oolong
Anxi Tieguanyin, which was once popular all across the country, is the representative of Southern Fujian Oolong. Besides Tieguanyin, how many other Southern Fujian Oolongs can you name? Huangjingui, Yongchun Buddha's Hand, Southern Fujian Shuixian, and what else? Actually, besides Tieguanyin, Huangjingui, and Southern Fujian Shuixian, other teas from this region have a collective name: Southern Fujian Sezhong.

Northern Fujian Oolong
Northern Fujian Oolong is mainly concentrated on the Wuyi Mountains—Wuyi Rock Tea. 'Every rock has tea, each tea has its name.' The Wuyi Mountains have a vast variety of tea trees. Apart from the Five Famous Bushes, Wuyi Rougui, and Wuyi Shuixian, there are also many fine teas. Those selected for their excellent quality are called Wuyi Mingcong (Famous Bushes), while others are referred to as Wuyi Qizhong (Strange Varieties) or Wuyi Caicha.

Guangdong Oolong
Guangdong Oolong is famous for its Dan Cong (Single Bush) teas, the most well-known being Phoenix Dan Cong, which has numerous aroma types, with the top ten being the most prominent. Additionally, there are Lingtou Dan Cong, Shiguping Oolong, and Phoenix Shuixian. As for the others, they are collectively called Phoenix Langcai.

Taiwanese Oolong
The Taiwanese Oolong tea family was introduced to Taiwan from Fujian during the Qing Dynasty and gradually developed there. It is mainly divided into two types: one is Bao Zhong tea, with the most famous being Wen Shan Bao Zhong; the other is Taiwanese Oolong tea, with Bai Hao Oolong and Dong Ding Oolong being world-renowned. Of course, there are also Jin Xuan, Cui Yu, Muzha Tieguanyin, etc. As for most of the others, they can be called Taiwanese High Mountain Oolong Tea.

Now you know how terrifyingly vast the variety of Oolong tea is, right? It's not very realistic to try and recognize each one individually. But it's okay, apart from the famous ones, we can refer to the others as Southern Fujian Sezhong, Wuyi Qizhong, Phoenix Langcai, and Taiwanese High Mountain Oolong Tea.
