Three Taboos in Drinking Oolong Tea

Tea News · Dec 28, 2025

 There are three taboos in drinking Oolong tea. American research shows that green tea benefits human heart and lung health. Oolong tea combines the mellow taste of green tea, the richness of black tea, and the fragrance of scented tea. Experts explain that different varieties of Oolong tea have their own unique characteristics after brewing.

However, experts also remind that there are three taboos in drinking Oolong tea:

First, do not drink it on an empty stomach, otherwise you may feel hungry, dizzy, or even nauseous, commonly known as "tea drunkenness";

Second, do not drink it before bedtime, as it may make it difficult to fall asleep;

Third, do not drink cold Oolong tea, as cold Oolong tea is cold in nature and may harm the stomach.

These three taboos are particularly important for beginners, as Oolong tea contains higher levels of tea polyphenols and caffeine compared to other teas, and improper consumption may harm the body.
