Old Tea Head is a special type of ripened Pu-erh tea.
Old Tea Head forms during the fermentation process of Pu-erh tea, characterized by high tenderness, small size, and tightly knotted strips.
During Pu-erh tea fermentation, after moistening, the tea leaves become soft and the透气性 between tea masses decreases, making them prone to clumping into lumps. Insufficient breaking up of these lumps during fermentation turning and piling results in more and larger tea masses. Initially, factories used these as by-product tea, crushing and blending them into low-grade products. Later, it was discovered that when brewed, the tea soup is mellow, sweet, smooth, and耐冲泡, leading to its recognition as a unique commodity.
