In cold weather, people tend to have a better appetite and eat more. People in Guangdong know that drinking tea can help resolve greasiness. What kind of tea is more suitable in the current weather? Pan Feipeng, Chief Physician of Guangdong Provincial Hospital of Traditional Chinese Medicine, said that dark tea is warm in nature and warms the stomach. In this dry and cold winter, brewing a pot of warm dark tea is most delightful.
Dark tea has excellent digestive functions.
Caffeine, vitamins, amino acids, phospholipids, etc., in dark tea aid human digestion and regulate fat metabolism. The stimulating effect of caffeine can further increase gastric juice secretion, thereby boosting appetite and aiding digestion. Japanese scholars have scientifically proven that dark tea has strong functions in resolving greasiness and aiding digestion. The dietary structure of ethnic minorities in northwest China consists of beef, mutton, and cheese. Dark tea has become a necessity in the lives of these meat-eating ethnic groups, largely due to its effects of "removing greasiness" and "resolving meatiness." Additionally, dark tea can improve the intestinal microbial environment and promote gastrointestinal regularity. In Chinese folk tradition, aged dark tea is used to treat bloating, dysentery, and indigestion.
Epidemiological surveys conducted in key consumption areas of Fu tea, such as Xinjiang, Inner Mongolia, and Qinghai, show that long-term consumption of dark tea has beneficial regulatory effects on human blood lipids, blood sugar, blood pressure, and vascular hardening.
For lowering blood pressure and reducing fat, Anhua dark tea with abundant "golden flowers" is the first choice.
Pan Feipeng introduced that dark tea is one of the six major tea categories in China, belonging to post-fermented tea. It is a unique tea type in China. Many people know that ripe Pu-erh tea is a type of dark tea. According to some information, Pu-erh tea is made from sun-dried large-leaf crude tea through natural fermentation and aging or artificial pile fermentation. Anhua dark tea is made from small-leaf tea as the raw material for the initial crude tea. Chief Physician Pan Feipeng added: Anhua dark tea is commonly steamed and pressed into brick shapes, such as black brick, flower brick, or Fu brick. Among them, Fu brick tea has a special process called "developing golden flowers" during processing. The more golden flowers grow, the better the quality of the Fu brick tea. The function of the golden flower fungus in Fu tea is irreplaceable by other teas; it can lower blood pressure, reduce fat and blood sugar, aid digestion, and regulate the stomach and intestines.
Chief Physician Pan Feipeng reminded that drinking dark tea should also be based on individual constitution and different regions. Dark tea has a warm nature and is suitable for most middle-aged and elderly people, especially those with a constitution偏向虚寒体质; however, people with a constitution偏向热性体质 or those who frequently drink alcohol or have a constitution偏向湿热体质 are not advised to drink dark tea regularly and should mainly drink green tea or oolong tea.
